Zapp at the 450 MHz Digitalisation 2004 Conference

The first day of the conference is chaired by Cuneyt Turktan, President of the Zapp Board, who will also give the opening remarks of the event. During the keynote session, Victor Stan, Zapp’s Vice-President & CTO, will hold a presentation titled “Assessing the Opportunities and Challenges of CDMA 450 – Lessons Learnt from the First Live CDMA 450 Network Deployment”.

“For Zapp, it is an honor and a confirmation of its success the fact that the second edition of the 450 MHz Digitalisation Conference is held in Bucharest. This forum of CDMA 450 operators and equipment and handset manufacturers takes a deep look at challenges and opportunities for mobile communications in the 450 MHz spectrum,” said Cuneyt Turktan, President of the Zapp Board.

During the conference, Zapp will hold demonstrations of services such as Zapp Me (based on the BREW platform), EV-DO, BREWChat and will test roaming calls with Russian operator Delta Telecom. Zapp and Topex, the only Romanian designer and producer of interfaces allowing EV-DO data traffic, will also make live demonstrations of an EV-DO & Wi-Fi bridge. The demonstration uses “Topex Access Lan advanced”, a product that manages and connects LAN networks to the Internet using Zapp’s EV-DO technology. It ensures data traffic at EV-DO speeds through four Ethernet lines for up to 64 terminals: desktop, laptop, IP phone, notebook, surveillance cameras etc.

The international conference “450 MHz Digitalisation 2004” is officially endorsed by the International 450 Association (IA 450), representing the interests of the 450 MHz operators and equipment vendors. The conference is sponsored by Qualcomm, Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks, Huawei and Ericsson, while its media partners are ComNews.ru (Russia) and Comunicatii Mobile magazine.
